This season, he mounts a new production of Don Giovanni for the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, Don Pasquale for Opera Naples, Carmen for Indiana University, Il barbiere di Sivigliafor Lyric Opera Baltimore, a double-bill of Stravinsky's Mavra with Ainadamar, by Osvaldo Golijov, Magic Flute for the Brevard Music Festival and La Traviata for the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
The 2014-2015 season saw Buchman create productions of L'elisir d'amore for Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music's summer program, La boheme for Indiana University, Suor Angelica & Gianni Schicchi for Intermountain Opera and the University of Miami, Lo speziale for New World School of the Arts, Manon Lescaut for Mobile Opera, Il barbiere di Siviglia for Syracuse Opera, Don Giovanni for the Miami Summer Music Festival, Cosi fan Tutte for the Brevard Music Festival and the World-premiere of Carson Kievman's Pulitzer Prize-nominated multimedia opera Intelligent Systems, which the South Florida press named one of the "Most Innovative Productions of 2015". He was also Artistic Director and creator of the ground-breaking arena event entitled LiveArts, which drew together over 1500 performers, including the Grand Rapids Symphony, Ballet, Opera and Broadway.
In the 2013-2014 season, he created new productions of La traviata for Indiana University, La tragédie de Carmen for Syracuse Opera, Don Giovanni for UCLA, Il barbiere di Siviglia for the Orlando Philharmonic, La Cenerentola for Green Mountain Opera Festival, Le nozze di Figaro for the Miami Summer Music Festival, L'elisir d'amore for Cincinnati Conservatory of Music's Summer Program and No Exit for Florida Grand Opera, which was named "One of the Best & Brightest of 2014". He also created the world-premiere of Carson Kievman's chamber opera Fairy Tales: Songs of the Dandelion woman which received rave reviews.
In the 2012-2013 season, he made his debut with Atlanta Opera directing Carmen, made a triumphant return to Florida Grand Opera with a new production of The Magic Flute, and created productions of Romeo et Juliette for Intermountain Opera and Cold Sassy Tree for Sugar Creek Symphony & Song. Other recent highlights include directing an immensely popular Rigoletto for Florida Grand Opera, Turandot for Mobile Opera, La Bohéme for Indiana University, South Pacific for Anchorage Opera, Il Trovatore for Opera Naples, Hansel & Gretel for Sarasota Opera, The Bartered Bride for the New World School of the Arts, L'Elisir d'Amore for Toledo Opera and a new production of Faust for Opera Naples, which critics claimed "has set a new standard for the company".
Mr. Buchman was on the Seattle Opera directing staff for productions of Tristan und Isolde, Lucia di Lammermoor, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Don Quichotte, Porgy and Bess, Carmen and The Magic Flute. He also directed their Young Artist production of Donizetti's Viva la Mamma.

He recently created a new production of Don Giovanni for UCLA, and for five years, he served as stage director for the opera department of the New World School of the Arts, where he created acclaimed productions of The Magic Flute, Hansel & Gretel, Amelia Goes to the Ball, La Divina, Die Fledermaus and Cosí fan Tutte. This season, he will also create new productions of Gianni Schicchi and Suor Angelica for University of Miami's Frost School of Music and L'elisir d'amore for Cincinnati Conservatory of Music's Summer Program.

Their collaborations have included acclaimed productions of Il Trovatore, Rigoletto, La Boheme, The Bartered Bride, Cosi fan tutte, The Magic Flute, Hansel & Gretel, Die Fledermaus and the Spanish zarzuela Luisa Fernanda. In the 2013-2014 season, they collaborated on Don Giovanni, La traviata and La Cenerentola, and in the 2012-13 season, they joined forces for Carmen with Atlanta Opera and The Magic Flute with Florida Grand Opera. He began his music studies at the Baltimore School for the Arts and later at the Interlochen Arts Academy. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Opera from the Boston Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music degree in Voice from the Peabody Conservatory of Music in his native city of Baltimore, Maryland. He studied German at the Goethe Institut in Prien am Chiemsee, Germany and Spanish at the Instituto Cervantes. He trained in the Young Artist Program of the Florida Grand Opera, where he later was honored with the company's Evelyn P. Gilbert Award, and also in the Studio and Apprentice Artist Programs of Central City Opera, where he was awarded their Studio Artist of the Year award. Winner of the prestigious Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition, Mr. Buchman began his work in opera as an acclaimed singer noted for his ability to merge acting and singing. Other prizes include First Prize in the National Voice Competition of the National Society of Arts and Letters and a Richard F. Gold career grant from the Shoshana Foundation.
