Frank Aiello Voice Artist-Faculty, tenor Frank Aiello has touched thousands of lives, and his students have taken their influence with them to the far corners of our land and beyond. Aiello earned bachelor's and master's degrees in music from Drake University where he studied with Andrew White; continued study in New York with Leila Edwards, Metropolitan opera coach; and earned the doctor of music arts degree from the University of Oklahoma. He also studied with Grant Williams and Richard Hughes in New York; Norman Tattersall, fellow of the Royal Academy of Music in England; the late Dame Eva Turner, Royal Academy, London; and Hermanus Baer of Northwestern University;

Aiello performed extensively while studying in New York City, at the Kennedy Center, and in the Midwest. In addition to performing, publishing, and teaching, he has been very active as an adjudicator, both regionally and nationally, and continues to maintain a voice studio. He has served on the national Music Teacher's National Association board for vocal literature and contest requirements.
Aiello's students have won Music Teacher's National Association contests at the national level, NATS competitions, and Metropolitan Opera auditions at the state, regional and national levels. Several former students are professional performers in Europe and the United States, and many others are teaching in colleges and public schools. In 1994 he was honored as recipient of the Belbas-Larson Award for Teaching Excellence at USD. He also twice served as Department of Music Chair and guided European study tours for USD students for several years. He enjoys living in the rural setting of Verdi Prati with his wife and accompanist of 53 years, Judy, where they can enjoy the outdoors.
