The summer of 2023 will mark the fifth exciting year for the string and chamber music studies program at the Brancaleoni International Music Festival. The string faculty will select and combine highly qualified applicants into ensembles that will include piano trios and piano, and strings mixed chamber groups. Assignments will be contingent on instrumentation ratios within the student body.
In addition to chamber music, string students at the BIMF will participate in the Duo Sonata Program. The festival invites applications from both preformed groups and individual students. Festival participants have the opportunity to observe and participate in master classes taught by members of the string and piano artist-faculty and every student will also have the chance to perform in at least one of the festival recitals.
Faculty recitals, presentations, and workshops provide further opportunities to enjoy the immersive artistic learning environment at the BIMF. Repertoire assignments will be announced at least three months prior to the festival start date.
At least one day trip to a city in Italy is also included in the cost of tuition. For more information, visit the Information page.
The final application deadline is March 1, 2023. The festival will run from July 23 - August 6, 2023 with July 23 being the arrival date and August 6 the departure date.
HOW TO APPLY

Recent video or audio recordings that comprise 2 contrasting works representative of the student's current level and ability. Recordings have to be available for viewing on an online streaming website, such as YouTube. If a student is unable to upload their recordings, please email the festival directly for instructions on how to submit your files. Students of the 2020 Artist-Faculty can have the audition recording requirement waived by their teacher. In order to be placed in a chamber ensemble, an audition recording must be submitted, regardless of teacher.
SCHOLARSHIP Limited scholarship is available for students applying to the string and chamber music program only. Scholarship considerations will be decided on both need and merit. A completed Scholarship Application Form is necessary to be considered for scholarship.
Includes lessons, masterclasses, concerts, practice facilities, presentations, chamber coachings for selected students, transportation from and to the Bologna airport, concert venues, and day trips. Full tuition payment is due by May 1st, 2020.

Deposits are accepted on a rolling basis. Students are encouraged to submit the deposit within one week of admission notification. Accepted deposits or full tuition payments formally guarantee student participation in the festival. The deposit amount will be credited towards tuition.
Rental cellos will be made available to students who are unable to bring their own instrument to the festival. The quality of rental cellos in Italy is not very high, so please take this into consideration when requesting a cello rental.
