Welcome from the Director |
In founding the Brancaleoni International Music Festival I have aimed to create a summer festival that offers a unique, intensive, and integrated artistic learning environment to the aspiring young musician. Participation in international music festivals holds a vital role in the educational career of music students, and BIMF’s vision comprises two fundamental components crucial to fostering students’ artistic and personal development. On one hand, participants receive a combination of concentrated one-on-one instruction, masterclasses, courses, workshops, and professional performance experiences tailored to each specific area of study. On the other hand, BIMF’s inclusive program structure encourages interdisciplinary interaction through the possibility of participating in chamber music, duo and collaborative repertoire, attending concerts that blend solo piano, string, and mixed chamber programs, as well as offering presentations and workshops on integrative topics. BIMF aims to provide a foundation that allows students to cultivate the types of professional relationships and personal connections that extend beyond one’s specific area of study, as they are now more than ever essential elements of a successful career in music.
The programs of study consist of piano, collaborative piano, voice, strings, and chamber music, taught by internationally renowned artists and teachers who hold positions in Asia, Europe, and the United States' premier conservatories, universities, and opera houses. The festival is set in the idyllic Marche region of Italy, with the 13th-century Brancaleoni Castle in the picturesque town of Piobbico serving as our main performing venue. Looking ahead to our 2018 season, we are proud to announce significant expansions in our programs and offerings. Our new collaborative piano program will take place concurrently with the voice program, which will now comprise session 1, running from June 30 - July 21, 2018. Session 2 will house the piano and string program, running from July 22 - August 5, 2018. Our opera production this year will consist of Giacomo Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, presented in an outdoor setting at the Brancaleoni Castle. We will be welcoming many new and returning faculty members, and presenting even more guest performances, student, and faculty recitals in venues near our hometown of Piobbico.
