SUNGHO JUNG
String Adjunct-Faculty, viola South Korean violinist Sungho Jung made his debut with the Seoul Grand Symphony Orchestra at age 13. After leaving Korea to study in Europe and the United States, Jung now resides in Michigan. An avid performer of chamber music, he frequently performs for “If Music be the Food…Lansing,” a food fundraising concert series, and appears with Camerata Michigan as part of the “Cello Plus Series” directed by Suren Bagratuni.

Jung is also frequently seen as an orchestral musician, and was most recently concertmaster for the Michigan State Concert Orchestra. He performs regularly with many regional orchestras, including the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, Jackson Symphony Orchestra, Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra and Midland Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Jung was a member of the recording orchestra for Dr. Nancy Ambrose King’s album “New Works for Oboe and Orchestra,” which also featured violinists Matt Albert and Andrew Jennings.
A dedicated teacher, Mr. Jung is a member of the violin faculty at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan, and is also a violin instructor with the Jackson Symphony String Team.
Mr. Jung received his D.M.A in Violin Performance from Michigan State University (Dmitri Berlinsky and Yvonne Lam), M.M. in Violin Performance from Boston University (Bayla Keyes), and a B.M. in Violin Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (Kevin Lawrence). He also holds a performance certificate for studies with Jiří Fišer at the Prague Conservatory in the Czech Republic.
