The Brancaleoni International Music Festival Emerging Vocal Artist & Collaborative Piano Program is a three-week intensive educational experience that aims to provide the highest caliber of training for the young singer and collaborative pianist. This year's select group of participants will study, coach, and perform in the idyllic setting of the mountainous Northeastern Marche region of Italy. The concentrated curriculum includes regular lessons, coachings, a production of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, opera scenes, workshops, daily Italian language/diction classes, masterclasses, student and faculty recitals, and more. Day trips to cities in Italy are also included in the cost of tuition. For more information, visit the Information page.

IMPORTANT DATES
The final application deadline is March 1, 2023. The festival will run from July 1 - July 22, 2023 with June 27 being the arrival date and July 18 the departure date.

Le Nozze di Figaro
The fifth anniversary year of the festival brings a production of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, performed in the Brancaleoni Castle. Students will be cast in lead roles, covers, or and/or chorus, providing a rare opportunity to prepare and rehearse a complete opera under the guidance of our world-renowned artist-faculty members, including Howard Watkins from the Metropolitan Opera in New York, internationally acclaimed staging director Jeffrey Buchman and choreographer Rosa Mercedes, and our Voice Program Director, Scott Piper, from the University of Michigan. The opera production will be presented outdoor in the Brancaleoni Castle's main courtyard. Students are required to arrive at the festival memorized and ready to start rehearsals and coachings on the first day of the festival.

OPERA SCENES
All students not cast as a lead in Le Nozze di Figaro will also have the opportunity to perform in the opera scenes production, which will also be performed at the Brancaleoni Castle. The opera scenes will be directed by Howard Watkins from the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and directed by internationally acclaimed staging director Jeffrey Buchman. The opera scenes program provides students a chance to work one-on-one with one of the world's most renowned vocal coaches and directors. Students will be notified of scene assignments two months prior to the festival start date. Students are required to arrive at the festival memorized and ready to start scene rehearsals and coachings on the first day of the festival.

ITALIAN LANGUAGE, DICTION & CULTURE CLASSES                        Interactive learning modules focusing on Italian language, diction, IPA and culture will be provided by the instructors of the Scuola Arte e Cultura Appennino, totaling approximately 33 hours of instruction. Each instructor is a certified professional with a minimum of a Master's degree in Italian language studies who specializes in teaching Italian to non-native speakers. Each learning module will focus on a specific topic which will accumulate in a hands-on activity, including making your own pasta and pizza, going shopping at the local market, and more!

COLLABORATIVE PIANO PROGRAM
Students in the collaborative piano program will receive collaborative instruction from Howard Watkins (Metropolitan Opera in New York), and solo piano lessons from Stijn De Cock (Florida State University). This unique combination of solo and collaborative instruction will allow for piano students to improve and foster their piano technique and playing ability, while acquiring or improving their ability to accompany, coach, and run voice and opera rehearsals in a dynamic, challenging, and intense 3-week program.
